Lotte's 1st nomination for 'only 3 games in 6 years' was given a chance again, "I won't give up." Strong determination

His name, which had been forgotten by fans for a while, has been revealed again last year. Will Yoon Sung-bin (26) of the Lotte Giants, who showed both hope and challenge, burst his potential this year.

Yoon was registered as an official player ahead of the match against the Changwon NC Dinos on July 27 last year, and was called up to the first team. It was the first time in three years that he registered as an entry since 2021.안전놀이터

He took the mound as a starting pitcher for the first time in five years and four months at a match against the Incheon SSG Landers on June 30. His record was not good. During one inning, he allowed four hits, two outs and one strikeout, and five runs against nine batters, and became a losing pitcher as it was. However, he showed positive performance by throwing fastballs at speeds of up to 152 km per hour in the first inning, blocking the pitcher with two runs.

Yoon's outing in the first division ended only for four days. After moving down to the second division the next day, he pitched in nine more games before ending the season as he did. His Futures League performance was two wins, four losses and one hold with an ERA of 9.31 and a hit-out rate of 37 pitches in 29 innings. Still, he showed hope by allowing five strikeouts and no runs in three innings in two games at the 2024 Ulsan-KBO Fall League held after the end of the season.

Yoon Sung-bin, who met with Star News during the fall league, looked back on the season and confessed, "The coach gave me a chance, but I couldn't catch it." At the same time, he expressed confidence, saying, "I was able to show that I'm still very good, and I'll not give up and work hard to make it to the first team next year (2025)."

As he said, he proved his existence. After graduating from Busan High School, Yoon joined Lotte through the first round of nomination in 2017, which raised expectations to the extent that he received a down payment of 450 million won (427,500 U.S. dollars). Since his debut in the first division in 2018, he has recorded two wins, five losses and an earned run average of 6.39 in 18 games as he entered the starting pitcher rotation. He showed off his ball power by striking out 65 during 50 ⅔ innings.

Since then, however, Yoon has hardly settled down. Except for playing in one game each in 2019 and 2021, he has not been able to play in the first division. In 2019 and 2020, he showed so much affection that he spent training with the NPB Chiba Lotte Marines and the U.S. Driveline Baseball, respectively, but failed to establish his own.

Meanwhile, bad luck also overlapped with that. He tried to join the military to solve his military service problem, but failed to make it due to physical conditions, and he ended up returning to Korea early due to a hamstring injury during the Okinawa spring camp in Japan in the 2023 season. Thus, he only played in three games in the first team in the recent six seasons.

Having proved that he still has fast balls, Yoon seeks a rebound. As he joined the club's list of players on hold for the 2025 season, he gained another chance. He continued his practice at the closing camp to make the second pitch, a fork ball, strong enough to hit a strike.

Yoon Sung-bin said, "I've shown that I'm alive, so I hope I'll stay all the way next year," but added, "I'll do my best no matter what position I take." He also said, "I'll make my control so that even if the coach puts me on the mound, I won't feel anxious."
